By Ron P. Muriera, Arts Industry Support Director for the City of San José Office of Cultural Affairs
As part of the National Arts & Humanities Month in October, the San José Office of Cultural Affairs is challenging residents of San José to use their powers of creative expression for 31 days through WeCreate408!
What is WeCreate408?
WeCreate408 is a month-long, region-wide, in-person and online campaign to inspire everyone’s creativity and celebrate Silicon Valley’s rich and diverse arts and culture while bringing us closer together, hosted by the San José Office of Cultural Affairs
Working with local artists, cultural makers, creative businesses, education institutions, and arts and cultural organizations, we will send out prompts starting Saturday, October 1 that are designed to inspire your creativity. These daily prompts revolve around creative actions that you can do on your own, along with links to events and activities taking place in San José that day.
Creativity matters! When we share creative experiences and express our creativity, we build powerful connections with the people we’re closest to, with our community, the world around us, and with ourselves. Creativity allows us to express our unique ideas and talents (at any level), helps us grow, and provides a sense of well-being. Plus, it makes us happy!
Sign up to receive daily WeCreate408 prompts by email and your share your response to the daily creative prompt on social media using the hashtag #WeCreate408 on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter. Our creative partners will help us by selecting their favorite responses to the daily prompts and those selected participants will receive special giveaways and discounts.
It takes less than 10 minutes a day to participate.
Don’t overthink it, just have fun!
A little creativity a day goes a long way.
