With summer in full swing, the SVCREATES team is beginning a new fiscal year and gearing up for another season of community performances, exhibitions, concerts, and creations ahead!
I’ve had the chance to meet and hear from many of our local arts leaders since I stepped into the Board Chair position this past January. As a Bay Area native and practicing artist, it warms my heart to see our creative ecosystem growing and thriving after the past few years we’ve all been through. I look forward to my first full year as Chair, partnering with Alexandra and the SVCreates team to keep the arts thriving in Santa Clara County.
We are also fortunate to have an incredible group of creative leaders on our Board of Directors, all of whom have been heavily involved in refining SVCREATES’ strategic approach. Their thoughtfulness and varied perspectives ensure that SVCREATES fully serves you, our arts community, as your needs and experiences evolve.
We are especially lucky to have the following Board members returning to our Executive Committee this year:
- Vice Chair: Tim Leehane | Sr. Manager, Product Management of Fire Tablets, Amazon
- Secretary: Tamara Alvarado | California Communities Program Officer, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation
- Treasurer: Toni Vanwinkle | VP, Digital Employee Experience, Adobe Systems
The Executive team has provided invaluable expertise over the past year, and we’re especially looking forward to having Tim step up into his new role as Vice Chair for the coming term. You can view the full list of our Board of Directors on our website here.
In all, I am so excited for everything SVCREATES will accomplish this year, in service of our arts community. From strengthening our existing partnerships with cities across the county, to providing educational support for our arts leaders and advocates, all the way to lending a helping hand to our neighbors in need, like the Gilroy arts community, there is a lot of work to be done–and so much creation and collaboration to look forward to.
Whether you are an artist, an advocate, a leader, a supporter, or any/all of the above–on behalf of the SVCREATES Board, thank you for the passion, creativity, and soul that you bring to our community. Let’s have a great year ahead!
